Invitation to 150^th Anniversary Celebrations of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh

This August, in the Archdiocese of Armagh, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first dedication of St Patrick’s Cathedral which took place on 24 August 1873.Archbishop Eamon invites you to take part in the celebrations. You are invited to an outdoor Festival of Families on Thursday, 24 August, in the Shambles Yard, Armagh, between 5.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m., which will include music and entertainment for all the family. Evening Prayer will take place afterwards in St Patrick’s Cathedral at 7.30 p.m.
To conclude the celebrations, you are also invited to a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral on Sunday, 27 August at 11.00 a.m. Cardinal Timothy Dolan, from St Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, will be the main celebrant.

Chaplet of the Divine Mercy

First Class Relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, to visit St Patrick’s Cathedral, in this the 150th year since the Dedication of the Cathedral

A first class relic of Blessed Carlo will visit the Cathedral from Sunday 11 – Tuesday 13 June 2023. Blessed Carlo was beatified by Pope Francis in Assisi in October 2020. His friends remember him as a young dreamer, service-oriented and full of charisma. He died in 2006, at only 15 years of age, after a battle with leukaemia. His life may have been short but it made a huge impact. Recently, in the process for the teenager’s beatification, his tomb became a real pilgrimage site.

All Welcome.

KILCURRY TIDY TOWNS GROUP: Want to thank everybody who took part in the recent spring clean. We ask people to try to keep the roads tidy around their own boundaries, including field gates and drains. If your road was not cleaned last weekend it is because we didn’t have enough help. Again a sincere thank you to those 20+ volunteers who did take part.

ARMAGH DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: Tuesday 23^{rd May}– Sunday 28^th May. The Faughart Lourdes Committee are now taking bookings, those wishing to travel to Lourdes may contact any member of the Lourdes Committee. Youth from the Parish are also invited to apply to travel where they will also take part in helping with our assisted pilgrims. Closing date for receipt of applications Monday 27^th February.

MARY’S SUPREME APOSTOLATE – Mass of healing and comfort for all but especially those who have lost loved ones by suicidal and those who have lost loved ones by suicide in St. Joseph’s Church, Castletown, on Friday 3^rd Feb at 6pm.

MUSICAL THEATRE CONCERT: “EJ Dunne from Kilcurry and his very talented friends aged between 15-23 are putting on their own Musical Theatre Concert in Kilcurry Community Centre on Friday 24th Feb at 7:30pm. This group of young people were performing in the recent Pantomime in Dundalk. These are a wonderful bunch of young people all performing and entertaining in the name of a very worthy charity! Please support in any way you can, tickets are only €10 and all proceeds are going to the North Louth Hospice, lovely raffles on the night and no doubt it’s going be a great night. BAMBINELLI SUNDAY: Next Sunday of Advent (Bambinelli Sunday) families are invited to bring their baby Jesus from their crib to Mass with them to be blessed. The figurine can be brought home and wrapped in a gift box and placed under the Christmas tree. On Christmas morning this is the first gift the family opens together. They then place the baby into the crib in their home.

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO WALK- ST. BRIGID’S CHURCH PAINTING PROJECT:

Fr. Vinod is walking the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela (walking 320 km approximately in 13 days) he started on the 10^th August and he asks all Parishioners to support him by sponsoring him. Donations can be given at any of Churches, envelopes and sponsor cards will be provided in all Churches. Could all remaining sponsor cards and donations be left with the priest or at the Parochial House. Many Thanks for your support.

TRANSPORT FOR IRELAND RURAL LINK BUS

This bus operates on Fridays, picks up at your house and delivers you back home. It is a great way to get to town and back with no looking for parking or charges the price is free for all who hold a free travel pass or 4€ return to Dundalk for anyone who has no free travel pass. It is a great way to meet up with neighbours, get to appointments, have a coffee, or shop. Contact Brendan on 087 323 0048. Route includes Faughart, Kilcurry, Lurgankeel, Dungooley, Roche, Hacksballscross and Sheelagh. If anyone wishes to be picked up please phone 087 323 0048 and give your postcode to be collected.

KILCURRY TIDY TOWNS GROUP

The bottle bank in Kilcurry has for some time been treated by a few individuals as a dumping ground. To eliminate this problem CCTV will monitor the area and prosecution of people identified will follow. If it does not belong in the bottle bank, take it home. Do not leave your rubbish for somebody else to clean up.

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK: with Mary’s Supreme Apostolate on Monday, 15^th of August, to pray for those who are suicidal and those affected by suicide. Bus leaves Kilcurry chapel at 7.15am and St. Joseph’s Church, Castletown at 7.30am. Contact Noreen at 0857617058.
