Second Collection  Fr. Willian Stuart is a Rosminian Priest who runs a small school for teenagers who are long term out of school as a result of the war in Syria.  Based in Lebanon he provides basic Arabic, Maths and English to the children who are borderline illiterate. He will be coming to the Parish on 15th and 16th September to speak at all Masses.  Thank you for your support.

North Louth Hospice Coffee Morning   Helena and Pat O`Connell are hosting a Coffee Morning in aid of North Louth Hospice Foundation at their home In Mountpleasant on Thursday 19th September 2019.  A warm welcome awaits you.  Come for a coffee, chat and a stroll around the garden.  Take the Ravensdale exit from the Ballymascanlon roundabout and follow the signs.  

Margaret Cunningham will host a National Coffee Morning event on Thursday 19th September from 9am onwards in her home at 13 Fatima Park.  Please come along and bring a friend and enjoy the coffee, tea, goodies and a bit of craic.  Raffle held on the day. 

Coffee Morning in aid of your local Hospice  will take place in Kilcurry Resource Centre on Sunday 22nd September from 9.30am to 1pm with raffle and homemade baked goods greatly appreciated.  Contact Margaret Murphy on 042 9331362.

KILCURRY TIDY TOWNS GROUP    Three rounds of judging in the Louth Looking Good Awards 2019 began on 10^th July and will continue until the end of August.  Please keep the roadside area opposite your property free from litter.  Always be careful on the road.  Thank you.

FAMILY CAMP OUT  Friday, 16^th August.  Lots of games and activities for all the family.  Join us for a last holiday weekend.  Cost for the family is €35.00 (includes BBQ tea Friday and sausage breakfast on Saturday).  Early booking is suggested as numbers are limited.

IRISH BLOOD TRANSFUSION  SERVICE  are in the Crown Plaza Hotel, Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th August, from 4.30pm to 8pm and in Clan Na Gael GAA Centre on Wednesday 14th & Thursday 15th August from 4.30pm to 8pm. It is important that we all remember that many patients in hospitals need our blood and this need never ceases.

FLEADH CHEOIL  is looking for volunteers. The biggest festival of traditional Irish music and culture in the world is returning to Drogheda from the 11th – 18th August. Volunteers from all over Ireland and the world helped out last year and were central to the success of the Fleadh, this year will be no different. Anyone over the age of 15 can volunteer. Family Camp Out: Camp out is on Friday 16th August  in Resource Centre.  There will be lots of games and activities for all the family, join us for a last holiday weekend.  Cost per family is €35 (includes BBQ tea on Friday and sausage breakfast on Saturday). Blessed Solanus Casey’s 2nd Feast Day takes place on the 30th of July and a mass will be celebrated  in St. Brigid’s Church, Kilcurry on Sunday 28th with blessing of 1st class relic,  all are welcome.

Catholic Movie coming to cinemas in Dundalk in just a couple of weeks.  The name of the movie is Garabandal, Only God knows.   It is the first film to be made concerning the alleged Marian apparitions that took place in Garabandal , Spain in the 1960’s and has already been seen by more than 250,000 people worldwide.  The film will be showing in the Omniplex at Dundalk Retail Park at 6:30 p.m. on 26th 27th and 28th July.

THE THIRD HEALING MASS FOR HEALING AND COMFORT FOR everybody, but especially for those who have lost loved ones by suicide will be celebrated on Friday next, 19^th July at 6.00 p.m. in St Joseph’s Church, Castletown by Fr T Griffin I.C.

THE EPISCOPAL ORDINATION of Fr Michael Router will take place on Sunday, 21^st July at 3.00 p.m. in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, with a meal afterwards in Armagh City Hotel at 6.00 p.m.  Each Parish has been allocated 4 tickets or Admission Cards for the above.  These Admission Cards will be distributed from the Parochial House only on a first come-first served basis.  Once they are gone  –  they are gone.

BLESSED SOLANUS CASEY’S 2^ND Feast Day on the 30^th July  –  a mass will be celebrated in St Brigid’s Church, Kilcurry on Sunday, 28^th with blessing of 1^st Class relic.  All Welcome.

Annual Pilgrimage to Faughart Shrine  will take place on Sunday 7th July at 3p.m. with procession around the stream, mass, anointing of the sick and blessing with the relic.  Fr. Malachy Conlon P.P. will be celebrating the mass.

Fr. Vinod Camino:  Fr. Vinod will this week from the 4th to 12th June be walking the Camino and all the money collected by sponsorship and private donations will go to Parish Funds and the painting of Holy Rosary Church, Brid-a-Chrinn.  If you have sponsorship cards we ask you please to return them (with money) to the Parochial House or Sacristy within the next 2 weeks, also any private donations. We still have envelopes in the Sacristies for private donations.  Many thanks. We ask the Lord to be with Fr. Vinod on his Camino journey.

KILCURRY TIDY TOWNS GROUP  we want to say a big thank you to the second class children from scoil Phadraig Naofa  for their great help in planting apple & plum trees in the Community Orchard beside the bottle bank. TIDY TOWNS GROUP   thanks to all those who took part in the Spring clean last weekend. A number of roads which were not tackled at all. We have a small committee and tend to spread out to help others who contact us to pick up litter in and around their own area. Camino Walk    Fr. Vinod will be walking the Camino from Ponferrada to Santiago de Compostella, Spain (approx. 217Km) over 8 days from 4^th June to 12^th June.  If you wish to get him sponsors for this walk sponsorship cards will be available shortly.  The money raised will go towards “Parish Funds” – the painting of Holy Rosary Church, Brid-a-Chrin.  You can sponsor Fr. Vinod any amount €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, so much per kilometre or whatever you wish to give, or if  you wish to give a private donation, you may do so.  Many thanks.

NEXT WEDNESDAY “Ash Wednesday” we begin the Holy season of Lent. Lent is the
season in which we are invited to explore and discover what it means to be “Holy”. We are
called to be holy whatever state of life. The ashes on our forehead are our pilgrim badge
marking us as penitents. It is a time for all of us to do something extra: Fasting, Prayer,
Almsgiving, self-denial, coming to weekday Mass. We will have extra Masses in Kilcurry
Church on Monday and Thursday at 9.00am. We will also have the Stations of the Cross at the
Shrine at 5.00pm each Sunday during Lent.
Mass times on Ash Wednesday: Fatima 10.00am. Kilurry 11.00am. and Brid-a-crinn 7.30pm.
It is also a day of Fast and Abstinence (no meat).
Lenten Prayer Group : will meet on Thursdays during Lent from 7.00pm – 8.00pm in St.

To mark World Day for Consecrated Life 2019  Archbishop Eamonn will lead a prayer service at St. Brigid`s Shrine, Faughart on Friday 1st February at 12 Noon.  All religious communities in the diocese have been invited to the celebration and the faithful are also welcome to attend the gathering.  A public Mass will take place at the Shrine at 11am before the prayer service, to mark St. Brigid`s Day. Again all are welcome. We give thanks and pray for those men and women who are called to the consecrated life, that they may be faithful witnesses of God`s love.  May they always reveal the love of Christ to those they encounter and continue to enrich our world by their dedicated lives of prayer.

TODAY WE CELEBRATE the “Epiphany of the Lord”.  The word “epiphany” means “revelation”.  Jesus came to reveal the Father. The Magi or three Kings were searching for Christ.  When they found him, they worshipped him and offered him gifts. Millions of people have followed in the footsteps of the Magi and come to Christ.  We count ourselves among those fortunate millions. The coming of Jesus, the Light of the World and Messiah of Israel, is the dawning of every human hope and dream.  God’s revelation of himself in the coming of Jesus is offered to everyone. Let us open our hearts and minds to encounter Jesus in every Mass.

Variety Show – Thanks We wish to express thanks to all the fantastic acts that performed at our parish variety show last weekend,  it was a brilliant night with many hours of practice. Thanks to all who helped on the night and in the run up to the show,  to those who donated prizes, or donated to the parish fund, members of the fund raising committee and the finance committee. Total raised after expenses €3650.00.  8th Prize was ticket 561-565 and was not claimed on the night,  if you have this ticket you can collect your prize at the parochial house.

WE PRAY FOR The happy repose of the Very Rev. Brian Hackett who served as Curate in Faughart Parish from 1968 to 1981. We have very fond memories of him – may he rest in peace. Funeral Mass on Monday 8^th October in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Ballygawley and burial afterward in Garvaghy cemetery.

KERLA CALLS FOR HELP – The state of Kerla in India has been seriously affected by floods and landslides. People have lost their homes and essential possetions (including the families of our priests ministering here in Ireland). Financial help is urgently needed. A second collection will be taken up on 20^th and 21^st October. Donations both large and small will be greatly appreciated.
